Story · The new gangsterism at the Kenya Revenue Authority that is ripping companies off

KRA Commissioner-General James Mburu

There's a new scandal at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

After years of looting and plunder through useless policies and projects, Kenya is broke; and the National Treasury is struggling to pay for services and workers.

It was only a matter of time before the fake easing of tax burden during the height of the Covid-19 cases become exposed as PR.

You've seen how the govt has brought back charges and tax has also increased in some quarters such as in fuel prices.

Currently, firms are struggling with low revenues but KRA through the looting govt of Kenyatta said they must pay taxes even on losses. The new scandal Companies that contacted nyakundireport.com claim there is a sabotage of the tax filing systems so as to charge them more.

Hi Cyprian,

Happy New Year.

KRA recently announced a waiver for penalties and interest for companies for the last 5 years and to run through the next three years. This is good news for many.

However, the KRA officials have found a way to frustrate the system. They lock the user out of the system, which means they then cannot apply for the tax waiver. After locking you out, they send several frustrating emails with very short timelines to repay the interest.

This is very common with the Nairobi West Tax office. Send more information on this to hello@nyakundireport.com or Whatsapp +254 710 280 973
