I am a Kenyan who believes that everyone should earn their living honestly. The shocking reality is that there are very many scams in this country being propagated by big companies without dire consequences. During the release of national exams, many of these scams usually come up with promises like ” Send your Index number to this number and you’ll get your results immediately “. In 2009, after our fourth form results were out, I sent my index number but never got the results although some got. Shockingly, my cash was never refunded. This really pained me because 20 shillings was a lot of money at that time . I was duped !!But the fact that I had excelled after calling school erased the pain
These scams are always sponsored by Safaricom and other mobile operators. They should instead be in the forefront protecting their customers from greedy third parties
Now we have another scam which promises to tell you where your Kid has been selected to after the form one selection exercise. This is what the standard reported.
Well, I tried to inquire and this is what the fellas told me after sending my cousins index number to 20042 :
Assume this happened to 300,000 Kenyans . That will be 300,000 * 25 = 7,500,000. The propagators will smile to the bank and maybe give Safaricom and other mobile operators something small for helping them cone Kenyans.
