Prof Stephen Gitahi Kiama, University of Nairobi (UoN) Vice-Chancellor (VC)
Two days ago, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi Prof Kiama Gitahi acknowledged that the institution 'has not been spared by the virus'.
“These are not mere statistics, University of Nairobi has also not been spared by this enemy, the Covid-19,” Kiama Said.
UoN has lost two staff members to the virus. But at the College of Architecture and Engineering, the students have been told to prepare for a 'face to face' examination to enable those in the final year to graduate this year.
"Why is UoN doing this yet colleges are to open in September. They want comrades to die in Nairobi?", a student who spoke to Cnyakundi.com wondered
The University needs to agree on one position that will not jeopardise the welfare of many. A position like closing indefinitely would suffice.
