Police have detained a 45-year-old woman identified as Beatrice Wangare, who was in the company of Nairobi Hospital director Dr Job Obwaka shortly before he collapsed in Kitengela and was pronounced dead on arrival at the facility on Friday evening, placing her at the centre of an active investigation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

An incident report filed at Kilimani Police Station indicates that the 83-year-old obstetrician and gynaecologist, who had a history of medical conditions, was rushed to hospital by ambulance after collapsing during personal errands, with his body later moved to Lee Funeral Home pending a postmortem to establish the cause of death.

The case has drawn heightened public and professional attention given Dr Obwaka’s recent arrest over governance disputes at Nairobi Hospital and his standing in the medical field, with investigators now focusing on reconstructing his final movements as inquiries continue.
