Rogue Priest: This Catholic Church In Nyeri Is Accused Of Scamming Congregants

I am a Catholic faithful at Nyeri Archdiocese.

There is a priest by the name Isaiah Njogu Karuiru of Gathugu Parish in Karatina Deanery who is sending Christians away.

Since he came in this parish there has been chaos after the other.

On his first month here he sold the parish car without following the procedure of informing the parish council. Then in July 2018, he asked each congregant to contribute Kshs. 2000 to buy 2 pastoral vehicles.

We raised about Kshs 3 million but up to now no vehicle has been bought.

When the parish council members inquired why he has not bought the vehicle as planned, he dared them to report him.

They wrote to the Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

It's over one month now and no response has come forth from the Bishop's office.

The priest has now resulted to insulting people during his sermons; telling them 'I am untouchable, you thought the parish can do anything to me. They can't.'

His use of insults has made people to leave the church.

He has no shame.

He has sent a circular that each member should contribute Kshs. 5000 to build a Father's house but the Christians in one voice told him they won't contribute until the money they raised for the vehicles is accounted for.
