Athletics Kenya (AK) has paid tribute to 1968 Olympic Silver medalist Daniel Rudisha, who died on Wednesday night at his hometown in Kilgoris.

Daniel is the father of two-time Olympic champion David Lekuta Rudisha.

David recently shared pictures of his ailing father with the captions, ''Me and my ailing father,,,, wish him quick recovery. Long live my dad' and 'God is faithful'. CAPTION: David Rudisha (Left) and Daniel Rudisha.

AK took to Twitter terming Daniel as an inspiration to many younger athletes, namely Billy and Patrick Konchella and others.

Daniel was a member of the 4 x 400m relay team alongside Charles Asati, Munyoro Kamau & Naftali Bon that claimed silver at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City in 2 mins 59.6 seconds.

'Rudisha will always be remembered as a legend and the pioneer athletes who set the foundation for the current crop of athletes', AK wrote. CAPTION: Daniel Rudisha on the track, September 1967 || Standard Media Group
