Raila Odinga's Letter To Willy Mutunga
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is a very concerned Man. In a Lengthy letter, Written and directed to Willy Mutunga, Raila is deeply concerned over the delay in determination of a petition pending in court. "The party is concerned that the delay in hearing the matter defeats the purposes of the Constitution that requires that election petitions be heard within a certain time frame," Reads part of the letter dated 17 July and received by the supreme court on the same day it was authored . Raila has issues with the time it has taken the court to hear the Nyaribari Chache election Petition .
Raila asks why the election petition is pending in court two years to 2017 elections . The former Prime minister goes ahead to urge Mutunga to do all he can to ensure the petition is heard and determined .
This controversial case was filed by Chris Bichage in the Supreme Court in April 2014 seeking declaration that the High Court acted beyond its powers while nullifying his 2013 victory.
But then a Local Political analyst had this to say about this case I thought RAO, after the 2013 Supreme Court ruling on Presidential election results, rubbished and termed the Supreme Court as "Koti ya Bandia." How come now he has written to the same court asking for expediency of the Nyaribari Chache petition?
