Radio Africa's Smooth FM Kenya To Be Sued For Copyright Infringement
Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Patrick Quarcoo, Founder and CEO of Radio Africa Group.
Radio Africa Group Smooth FM Kenya had received a demand letter from the original Smooth FM, United Kingdom.
'It has come to our attention that you have published unauthorised copies of the Smooth Logo, the Smooth Facebook Cover Artwork and the Smooth Posts via the following Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SmoothFMKenya/ (the "Infringing Facebook Page"). We outline at Appendix 3 examples of such infringing copies. As is clearly evident from the side-by-side comparison shown at Appendix 3, you have copied a substantial part of the Smooth Logo, the Smooth Cover Artwork and the Smooth Posts. This reproduction occurred without our consent, and therefore constitutes copyright infringement', Smooth wrote on the letter attached below.
Radio Africa commands 48 per cent of listening in Kenya with its six stations targeting different markets. The stations are: Kiss FM, Classic FM, Radio Jambo, East FM, Gukena FM, Smooth FM and Homeboyz Radio. Document - Letter View document
