A Sukhoi 100 Super Jet Aircraft

Yesterday a Aeroflot Flight SU 1492 crash landed at the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Khimki, Moscow.

The aircraft, a Sukhoi 100 super jet, had turned back after encountering an issue on air. What we know so far The plane was carrying 73 passengers and five crew members.

Initial report had indicated that the plane had landed in fire, but new videos show the jet caught fire after a very bumpty landing.

There are 37 survivors - 33 passengers and four members of the crew.

Two children are among the 41 passengers who died.

A flight attendant, Maxim Moiseev, 22, was killed in the incident. She had remained behind trying to save passengers.

Denis Evdokimov, the captain of the plane said the aircraft was hit by lightning and that the fire began after landing and that the plane was not on fire while in the air.

However, other reports suggest that the plane had an electrical fault.Investigators are now working to find the fire’s cause.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin sent his message of condolences and ordered high level investigations into the incident.

Authorities in Murmansk have declared three days of mourning over the loss of life.

Russia’s Investigative Committee says the flight recorders from the plane have now been recovered.
