Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Meru County Director of Education has been accused of diverting funds meant for fueling school buses.
In WhatsApp messages seen by CNYAKUNDI.COM, the director is also accused of underpaying night-out perdiems.
The teachers are paid Kshs. 2500 night-out perdiems instead of Kshs. 4000.
Students were recently stranded when buses they were traveling in run out of fuel at Makongo in Makueni county.
‘This should be deeply looked into, people must be held accountable. This is unacceptable,' said one teacher who had accompanied the students
This is not the first time such a thing is happening. A teacher shared that they were once forced to sleep at Mwea when the bus run out of fuel.
That day, they were coming from a trip in Kisumu.
Below are the photos.
