CAPTION: Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed sent shockwaves around Juba on Monday after his arrival for a joint meeting meant to bolster the relationship between South Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Just last year, the Prime Minister expressed a legitimate claim that soldiers were after his life and since then, he hasn't been taking his personal safety lightly.

Given the security situation in Salva Kiir's nation, Mr. Abiy wasn't taking any chances and showed up with a heavily armed security detail that fulfilled it's sole purpose — that of sending waves of intimidation and fear within Juba that the man from Addis Ababa had indeed arrived.

According to gun experts we contacted, the weapons confidently carried by his security personnel as he alighted the plane in Juba have been described as Tavor rifles with “Meprolight M21 reflex sights”.
