Hillary Mutyambai: Inspection General of National Police Service
The Kenya National Police Service (NPS) through their Twitter handle @NPSOfficial_KE today wrote a sarcastic tweet against the punitive housing levy.
In a post that was immediately pulled down. The administrator of the Twitter handle wrote,'...toeni pesa kwanza. Tutaamua vyenye tutatumia', which translates to, 'accept the [salary] deductions, we shall decide what to with the money later'.
This cannot be taken lightly as the men in uniform have always lived in deplorable conditions and being one of the people whose money will be deducted to fund the so-called affordable housing that is set to benefit a large number of President Kenyatta companies, this might be a call to protest.
Isn't this some form of protest?
Our headline should've been: 'Kenya Police Service Says No To The 1.5% Housing Fund Levy.
Here is the screenshot of the deleted tweet, thanks to a Kenyan On Twitter (KOT)
