Panic As Stray Dogs Attack Pupil in Bondo, Siaya County
Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Panic and fear has gripped residents of Siaya Bondo Junction in Siaya County after marauding dogs nearly mauled a pupil who was going to Central Primary School.
Were it not for Boda Boda riders who took a swift action and chased the dogs away, she would have been mauled.
The animals have become many, and are threatening the safety of kids, especially school going children in the area, residents say.
The panic-stricken girl was escorted to school by one of the boda boda riders.
Cases of dogs mauling or attacking school kids, old people and helpless people have been documented in media reports in Kenya.
In September 2017, a grandson of the then Nyeri County Governor Nderitu Gachagua was mauled to death by a stray dog.
The dog was later killed.
"Unless Siaya County Government acts to rid the place of these dogs that have gone wild, they are going to continue attacking and probably even kill people," a resident stated.
