Employees working under Solai Group of Companies exposed widespread mistreatment, intimidation and unfair dismissal of Kenyan workers across the group's businesses, including Kenloaf along Kitui Road, Kensalt, Enkasiti and Solai operations in Nakuru.
In a complaint shared with Nyakundi Report, workers describe a hostile working environment where employees are dismissed without proper explanations, human resource personnel are pressured to implement instructions from senior management, and surveillance cameras are used to closely monitor and spy on staff.
The complainants have particularly singled out a human resource official identified as Mr. Saurabh, whom they blame for a series of dismissals, including more than 20 employees said to have lost their jobs in September alone.
There are questions about the employment qualifications and immigration status of expatriate staff, possible non-remittance of taxes, interference with labour enforcement officials and the treatment of Kenyan employees by foreign managers.
Workers say that some expatriates receive their salaries directly in India, while others openly belittle Kenyan staff and use their employer's financial influence to discourage employees from pursuing justice after dismissal.
The employees are now calling on the Ministry of Labour, the State Department for Immigration, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and relevant government agencies to investigate the Solai Group of Companies employment practices, audit staff termination records, verify expatriate work permits and examine the company's compliance with Kenyan labour and tax laws.

Some expartriates call Kenyans small people and cannot talk to them.
Mr Saurabh tells employees that the owner is one of the richest people and he knows who is who and therefore if an employee is terminated, they will pay the labor office to take employee round and round based on their vulnerability to get legal representation.
