Kenyan social media users have been thrown into mourning following reports that popular personality KABABA, known by his handle @GeneralWaitish, has died.
The reports gained traction on September 27, 2026, with scores of users sharing condolence messages and revisiting some of his old posts in which he frequently joked about death and his eventual funeral.
Among those who reacted was Cyprian Is Nyakundi, who wrote that he was seeing reports of KABABA’s death circulating on the timeline.

The reaction was followed by a flood of comments from users expressing shock and sharing memories of KABABA's presence on Kenyan X.
One of the posts attracting renewed attention was a message KABABA published on March 1, 2023, in which he humorously imagined what his funeral might look like.

He continued the joke by imagining different women arriving at his funeral and claiming connections to him, including one who would say the deceased was her child's father and another who would be concerned about his coffin.
The post, which had attracted significant engagement when originally published, has now been revisited by users following the reports of his alleged death.
Another post from September 10, 2026 has also resurfaced. In it, KABABA appeared to contemplate how people would learn of his death.

The resurfacing of the posts has led some users to reflect on how frequently KABABA incorporated death into his humour and online conversations.
One follower wrote:

Another user expressed disbelief, noting that KABABA appeared to have spoken about his own death on numerous occasions.
Others simply left messages of condolence, including

The reactions have also highlighted the sense of community that exists among Kenyan users on X, commonly referred to as KOX.

Some users have consequently described the reported loss as particularly painful.
Losing a kox is something painful than even losing a family member.
