A family in Nyamira County is demanding answers after Dennis Oremo, a young man from Iranya village in Masaba North, was reportedly picked from his home by people said to be Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers before he was later found dead away from home.
According to accounts from relatives and people familiar with the case, Dennis was taken from the Nyamira area and later traced to the Naro Moru and Nyeri region, raising questions about who moved him there, where he was held and why his family was not clearly informed about his whereabouts.
An earlier interview with members of the family shows relatives were already searching for him and pressing government authorities to explain whether officers had arrested him, where he had been taken and which police or investigative unit was handling his case.
The family said they had not received clear information explaining why Dennis was taken, whether he had been booked at any police station, what offence he was being investigated for or which officers were responsible for moving him from Nyamira.
The case later took a darker turn after reports emerged that Dennis had been found dead, with social media accounts claiming his body was discovered hanging after he had allegedly been taken from Nyanza to the Naro Moru area.
Those claims have not yet been fully explained through an official public account showing Dennis’s movements from the moment he was allegedly picked from Iranya village to the place where his body was eventually found.
The biggest unanswered question now concerns the period between his reported arrest and his death, including whether he was ever in official custody, whether his detention was recorded and which officers or units had contact with him during that period.
Relatives are also seeking an explanation about how a man who was reportedly alive when he left home ended up dead far from Nyamira, particularly after the family had already raised concerns about his whereabouts and demanded information from authorities.
There is also a name discrepancy in some of the material surrounding the case, with one earlier account referring to him as Dennis Osimo, while later social media posts identify him as Dennis Oremo, something that will need to be cleared as more information emerges.
For now, the family is calling for a full account of what happened, including confirmation of who picked Dennis up, where he was taken, whether the people involved were serving DCI officers and how he ended up dead in the Naro Moru or Nyeri area.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and any claim linking individual officers or a specific government agency directly to the death still requires confirmation through official records, witness accounts, postmortem findings and the documented chain of custody from Nyamira to the place where his body was found.
