Kenya Airways owes the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority about Sh1.5 billion in unpaid regulatory and service fees, according to disclosures examining outstanding aviation-sector debts.

The arrears have accumulated over several years and form part of wider receivables owed to KCAA by airlines and aviation operators.

The debt comes as Kenya Airways continues efforts to strengthen its balance sheet and improve profitability following years of restructuring and government support.
