Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado has reportedly reached out to the family of murdered university student Sharon Otieno as part of reconciliation efforts.

A probation report before court says Obado maintains that he had nothing to do with Sharon’s murder and did not participate in the killing.

The report says members of Obado’s family, including two brothers and a sister, visited Sharon’s family on August 10, 2026.

Sharon’s parents confirmed the meeting.

The approach is described as an attempt to seek mercy and reconciliation on Obado’s behalf.

Sharon’s parents say her death left them caring for her children.

The family says it continues to struggle financially and fears for its safety.

The parents reportedly indicated that they would also like Sharon’s other former co accused to help stabilise the children’s lives.
