Story · OFFICIAL: Telkom Kenya & Airtel Kenya Complete Their Merger

Airtel Kenya and Telkom Kenya have officially completed their highly anticipated merger today.

The two companies decided to work together in an attempt to break Safaricom's dominance in the Kenyan market.

The merger's agreements by the two companies were signed this morning, making it official that the two telecos will now bring together their mobile, carrier and enterprise services.

Following the merger, their new name will now be Airtel-Telkom.

More shareholding details of the newly formed company are set to be released at a later date.

Telkom Kenya CEO Mugo Kibati will serve as the Chairman of the new company with Airtel Kenya's Chief Executive Prasanta Sarma will pick up his position as the company's CEO.

In the meantime, both companies will continue offering services normally and there will be no immediate changes in management or the mode of operation.
