Story · Netizens Awed By Ex-Cop Who Says He Was Dismissed “For Refusing To Chase Cows”

PHOTO CAPTION: Controversial cop Newton Cheboi A former law enforcement officer as sparked mixed reactions on social media after alleging to have been unfairly suspended from the Kenyan police force.

In a viral Twitter post, the officer known as “Newton Cheboi” claimed that his seniors instigated the dismissal to punish him for refusing to take what he terms “unlawful orders” of chasing cows at Lang'ata Police Station. “I need justice. I was suspended and dismissed for refusing to take unlawful orders of chasing cows for my boss at Lang'ata police station, Nairobi,” Mr Cheboi tweeted. Further inquiries into the matter revealed that this is the third dismissal for Mr Cheboi, whom our sources described as a “problematic cop”.

He previously served in the RECCE Squad, where he was interdicted before being dismissed and later reinstated.

He had won a scholarship from the government to study law, but left without informing the National Police Service. “This guy has had a lot with his bosses. He is a law student and shouldn't use his little knowledge to undermine the service commanders. Let's see how it goes but from the past incidences, you've actually been a problem with the service right from making ridiculous accusations,” one Twitter user replied under Cheboi's post.

Most describe Newton Cheboi as a bright guy from Elgeyo Marakwet County, who often loves to get into trouble.
