Muturi Security Withdrawal Sparks Political Firestorm
Justin Muturi, former Cabinet Secretary and once a trusted ally of President Ruto, now claims the state is threatening his life. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, April 8, Muturi revealed that his official security was withdrawn without warning.
He said the government’s move came shortly after he intensified his criticism of the administration. According to him, the officers were pulled out immediately after he publicly challenged the president’s integrity and exposed high-level corruption.
“The government’s reaction has been swift,” he said. “They ordered my security team not to report to work because I’m speaking the truth.”
Muturi insists this is not just a breach of protocol—it is political retaliation. He argued that security for a retired cabinet secretary is his constitutional right, not a privilege.
“I only learnt of the withdrawal on Monday evening. I reached out to the relevant departments, and they confirmed the decision was politically driven,” he said.
Despite the looming threat, Muturi said he won’t back down. “There are many Kenyans without security,” he remarked. “This won’t stop me from holding the government accountable.”
Exposing Ruto’s Dirty Deals
Muturi’s fall from grace didn’t happen overnight. In recent weeks, he has been tearing into the very government he once served.
On Friday, April 4, in a hard-hitting interview with the Nation Media Group, Muturi exposed a suspicious Ksh129 billion deal involving Russian businessmen.
The former AG claimed that Ruto pressured him to approve a shady “tree planting” project meant to channel billions in dubious grants. The funds, he said, were allegedly disguised as support for the president’s 15-billion-tree agenda.
Muturi shared how Ruto called him while he was in Dubai, urging him to meet the Russians and sign the deal.
“Your staff has already prepared the documents; just sign it,” Muturi quoted Ruto as saying.
The former CS refused. He now believes his resistance to that corrupt deal was one of the triggers behind his dismissal—and now, the loss of his security.
From Loyal Insider to Marked Enemy
Justin Muturi was dismissed from the cabinet on March 26 and replaced with Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku. The sudden removal came days after Muturi publicly condemned the government’s handling of abductions and growing impunity.
Since then, his criticism has grown sharper. He’s accused the Ruto administration of weaponizing the state to silence dissent and of misusing public resources while preaching austerity.
Many Kenyans now view Muturi’s security withdrawal as a clear attempt to intimidate him into silence. But the former CS insists he will not be bullied.
