Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Uganda head of state will be the first foreign head of state to use the standard gauge railway (SGR) from Mombasa to Nairobi
'I hope it'll be a smooth ride', Museveni said.
Museveni is in the country for talks on bilateral trade with his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru.
The two presidents discussed the extension of the SGR to the Ugandan border, Migingo island among other things.
Museveni said that the railway service and the oil pipeline will further ease the transportation of goods to Uganda.
On his part, President Kenyatta has said the Kenya and Uganda have agreed to form a border commission that will look into how the contentious island of Migingo will be managed for the benefit of both countries.
