The Murang’a County Jubilee Party caucus has written to Party Secretary Jeremiah Kioni requesting the initiation of disciplinary action against nominated MP Sabina Chege, citing a series of actions they describe as detrimental to the party’s authority and reputation.
“Hon. Sabina Chege has engaged in activities that are detrimental to the party’s interests and undermine its authority,” the letter states.
“Hon. Chege has attempted to take over the party by force and assume the party leadership position without authorisation,” it adds.
The caucus further alleges that Chege has been “collaborating with the ruling party, representing the government in events and functions that are contrary to our party stance and principles.”
The letter describes these actions as “a blatant disregard for party principles and values” and warns that they “have caused harm to the party’s reputation and have the potential to alienate our supporters.”
“As dedicated members of the Jubilee Party, we believe it is our duty to uphold the party constitution and principles,” the letter notes, urging Party Secretary Kioni to take “immediate action against Hon. Sabina Chege in accordance with our rules and regulations.”
The letter also requests that the national leadership “investigate these matters and take steps to address this issue” and stresses that “it is crucial that we maintain unity and ensure continued success.”
The letter details a pattern of behaviour that the caucus argues threatens internal cohesion.
The caucus claims Chege has sought to assume party positions without formal approval and has aligned herself with government initiatives that contradict party positions.
These actions, they say, undermine leadership structures and risk creating divisions within the party’s grassroots and legislative ranks.
