Money Over Profesionalism: This Is How Aga Khan University Hospital Milked Money From A Patient In ICU
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
The below case is very painful. One can only wonder how many patients or former patients suffered or continued to suffer silently.
The doctors and staff at this medical facility that once had a name are heartless, inhuman and greedy lot who will go to great lengths to fleece a family, plunging them into poverty.
The medical insurance scheme in this country has made such fraud commonplace.
Is there a way the government throuh the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) can stop this?
Read the story below:
Hi Nyakundi,
Still on Aga Khan University Hospital; our late friend Dr. Allan Mguttu who was a lecturer at Kenyatta University (KU) was really mistreated.
He was admitted there under KU medical cover for 1day then taken to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) .
Can you imagine every time he showed signs of waking up they used to inject him, saying that, it is to make him stop being aggressive.
The day his KU cover limit got depleted, Aga Khan Hospital demanded at 4 p.m. that his poor family pays Ksh.120,000 before 5 p.m. that same day.
We tried but notice was too short so he was, thrown out; taken away using an ambulance to Ladnan Hospital and put in High Dependency Unit (HDU).
We visited him the following and we were shocked when we didn't find him in HDU. We were told that he's been transferred to the General Ward.
When we proceeded to the general ward, we found him leaving the washroom by himself.
To Aga Khan Hospital:
How is it possible a patient leaves your hospital at 6 p.m., gets admitted in another one 4 kilometers away. And he doesn't need ICU and 5 hours later he is walking and is discharged a day later?
They took advantage of his medical cover and once depleted chased him away like a dog.
No wonder they kept injecting him everytime he woke up with God knows what despite complains by his family.
Cnyakundi.com says
This is classic case of money over professionalism. It is appalling.
Sorry to the family of the late Dr. Allan Mguttu.
