MIKE SONKO EXPLAINS SOURCE OF FUNDING FOR HIS RESCUE TEAM
Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has denied that he is running a parallel county government and that he is initiating programmes and projects to undermine the Nairobi county Government.
There have been questions as to who funds the Sonko rescue team projects across the county and for the first time, Sonko has come out to give details how the Sonko Rescue team programme is funded and managed.
In the project, Sonko wants to supply clean water, collect garbage, put out fires and ferry the dead to any part of Kenya. He has donated seven buses to the team, limousines for weddings, hearses and ambulances.
Sonko says he has employed more than 2,000 youth in the project. Sonko said the public transport buses generate about Sh7 million per month which he says is adequate to sustain the project. “Before I became a politician I was a transporter. I have now donated all my seven buses to Sonko Rescue Team. Proceeds from my double-decker bus are also channeled to this project,” he said. The senator said he is seeking partnerships with friends and well-wishers.
