The Grand (Laico) Regency was developed by Uhuru Highway Devt (at $100Mn), and acquired by Goldenberg beneficiaries

Laico Regency, formerly known as Grand Regency has collapsed.

According to reports, the Kamlesh Pattni founded hotel has fired all its staff due to low business occasioned by much more than COVID-19 pandemic.

We've been covering the demise.

Most of it was blamed on mismanagement, but that is just one part.

The staff of the hotel have been on unpaid leave since March 2020.

The hotel's management had tried staying afloat by circumventing around Union laws and importing foreign workers but that did not work.

“Laico owes us money from 2017, they have sent some of the staff home, indefinitely”, a staff member who spoke to nyakundireport.com said relating to the CBA signed between Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA) and the hotel.

In July 2020, it was reported that a staff member had collapsed and died at work due to high stress and complications from High blood pressure.
