Koimburi Abduction Probe Deepens as DCI Arrests Subaru Owner Linked to Juja MP’s Disappearance

Mounting questions surround the alleged abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi after a dramatic twist on Tuesday. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a close ally of the lawmaker believed to have orchestrated the mysterious incident.

The arrest follows claims that a Subaru vehicle registered to the suspect was used to abduct the MP last Sunday.

Koimburi had reportedly vanished after attending a church event. The latest development has intensified scrutiny into the lawmaker’s claims and placed security agencies under pressure to deliver answers.

DCI Arrests Subaru Owner as Koimburi Abduction Probe Escalates

Detectives acted swiftly after identifying the Subaru suspected to have ferried Juja MP George Koimburi during his sudden disappearance. The vehicle, allegedly linked to one of Koimburi’s associates, became central to the case after being spotted at the scene of the MP’s last public appearance.

The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was arrested in Nairobi in the early hours of Tuesday and is being held at a secure location as investigations continue. DCI officers are combing through surveillance footage, phone records, and digital evidence connected to the car’s movements.

Police Spokesperson Michael Muchiri confirmed the arrest and stated that detectives are still piecing together the events of May 26, when Koimburi vanished without a trace. “We are investigating all angles, including the possibility that the abduction was staged,” said Muchiri.

This arrest comes amid growing pressure from the public and opposition leaders, who claim the incident may be politically motivated. However, authorities remain cautious, pointing out inconsistencies in the MP’s and his allies’ accounts.

Wanjigi Farm Under Scrutiny After Dump Site Claims

Separate investigations led officers to a farm in Ruiru, owned by businessman and politician Jimmy Wanjigi. Allegations had surfaced that Koimburi was dumped there after being allegedly abducted.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja dispatched a forensic team to the scene. Officers documented every detail, taking photos and comparing the site with a viral video circulated online, allegedly showing where Koimburi was found.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), discrepancies quickly emerged. “Upon comparing the vegetation and road dimensions at the scene with those in the video, it was established that the two did not match,” said a police statement. The contradiction has cast further doubt on the MP’s narrative.

IG Kanja emphasized that while every lead is being followed, the inconsistencies raise more questions than answers. He said authorities will not rule out any theory, including the possibility that the location was intentionally misrepresented.

Political Heat and Access Denial Cloud the Investigation

As the MP recuperates at Karen Hospital, the political tension surrounding the incident continues to build. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders allege that Koimburi was poisoned with a chemical substance during the abduction, rendering him speechless. However, police have been unable to verify this claim due to restricted access.

Inspector General Kanja confirmed that detectives were barred from speaking to Koimburi or collecting medical evidence from the hospital. “The hospital administration, reportedly acting on instructions from the MP’s family, denied entry to investigating officers,” Kanja said.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula has ordered a parliamentary inquiry into the lawmaker’s alleged forced disappearance. He tasked the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security with seeking clarification from police and intelligence officials.

“Koimburi was allegedly found in a coffee plantation. However, we are getting conflicting reports from the police and witnesses,” Wetang’ula said in Parliament on May 27.

He added that a comprehensive report must be submitted to Parliament to clarify the lawmaker’s movements, health status, and the role of state and private actors in the incident.

The Koimburi Abduction case has gripped the nation, with each development triggering more questions than answers. With detectives arresting a suspect and expanding their investigation to high-profile figures and locations, Kenyans await clarity on whether their elected leader was truly a victim of abduction or if the truth lies elsewhere.
