Kenyans Oppose Proposal By Court Of Appeal To Have Age Of Consent Reduced To 16

Kenyans online continue to air their opposition to the Sexual Offences Act that seeks to reduce the age of consent from 18 to 16 years.
Yesterday, three Court of Appeal judges, Judges Roselyn Nambuye, Daniel Musinga and Patrick Kiage, ruled that it is time for the country to change the Sexual Offences Act, saying that lengthy sentences have been given to young men found guilty of defilement.

This comes even after Inmates at Kenyan prisons' support the review on the Sexual Offences Act saying that most of them are behind bars on flimsy grounds.
Some have argued that, exploitation of this law are not new as some parents, especially a girl's parent have been known to use this law to put teenage boys who had 'consensual' sex with their daughters, behind bars.
However, Kenyans online have emphatically said NO.
