K24Tv Owners Have Sacked Over 150 Staff Members

Mediamax Network Limited, the owners of K24Tv and a couple of radio stations, a d People Daily Newspaper, has declared over 150 staff redundant with effect from October 30, 2019.
The layoff affects staff across radio, television, digital, newspaper and administrative departments.
Mediamax had issued a notice on September 30th declaring that it would send some staff home. Massacre 'Mediamax Network limited regrets to advise: that owing to the recent economic downturn and loss of its major revenue streams, it shall reorganize its staff structure and abolish some positions as part of its cost cutting measures', a letter written by Acting CEO Ken Ngaruiya had stated on 30th September, 2019.

K24Tv seems to have the biggest number of staff cuts.
Virtually all K24 editors have been fired. “K24 has been swept clean,” said an editor at Mediamax. “I am not even sure about myself. The situation is tense.”
Those who have reportedly been given letters include K24 managing editor Fred Njiiri, Frankline Wambugu, the managing editor for Kiswahili and chief anchor; English Managing Editor Boniface Mutakha, and Deputy Managing Editor Ali Mtenzi.
