Impunity: Wajir County MCA Assault Case

Bute Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Adan Ismail Kullow is accused of assaulting Idris Adan Mohammed on 10th June, 2019.

After the assault, Idris got treatment at Wajir Referral Hospital and a P3 filled to that effect. Idris reported the matter to the Wajir Police Station but it seems the police have already been pocketed by the MCA.

Idris, through his lawyer Chege Kibathi and Advocates LLP has written to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Inspector general of Police (IGP) to give notice of intention to institute private prosecutions to Idris OB Number 24 on 10th June, 2019.

The lawyer says that the police have bee lax and that 'no steps have been taken to investigate the complaint''.

'Our client's attempts to inquire into the progress of the matter have bit borne any fruits', the letter read in part.
