I lost Kshs.400,000 Through The Fraudulent Equity Bank - Man Claims
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
CAPTION: Equity Bank MD and CEO James Mwangi at a past event
This August was my last month to finish paying my 400,000 which it’s not clear was for what!
I had a loan with this rogue bank which was maturing just about April last year 2018. On paying my last deduction through checkoff being a government employee; two months later I receive a call from Kioi and his Boss Kinuthia from Namanga Equity branch wanting to know why am not paying my overdue non-performing loan which now...(then) stands at slightly over Kshs. 400k.
I was shocked and nearly went into severe depression. They tried to explain how there was a change in interest overtime and other irrelevant reasons as to why I owed them 400k to the end of my loan.
My efforts to even contact the CBK, (a certain Reuben K. Cheres ) who deals with such complaints about banks.... bore no fruits as they dismissed me by telling me to sort it out with my bank.
After listing me with CRB and crippling my ability even to operate any mobile loan...I saw it was inevitable for me to pay the 400k painfully which I finished paying last month in order to freely live my life!
That's Equity for you...they say caring and listening...I doubt.
How many more will be fleeced by this rouge bank before action is taken?
