Haji Withdraws

[ad_1] The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has withdrawn terrorism charges against a Kenyan living in the United States.
Haji last Friday also withdrew charges of being in possession of a firearm without a licence that police had preferred against the US-based Kenyan.
The DPP urged the trial magistrate Bernard Ochoi to have the charges against Florence Wamucii Kiama alias Florence Wamucii Pfeiffer withdrawn under section 87 (a) of the criminal procedure code without giving reasons.
Ochoi allowed the request by the prosecution and discharged Wamucii, who had been charged with being in possession of a firearm without a licence. Firearm certificate Wamucii had been charged that on August 7, 2019 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, she was found in possession of a Beretta pistol without a firearm certificate.
She further faced a second count of being in possession of 106 rounds of 22 ammunition without a firearm certificate.
Reacting to the withdrawal of the charges, Wamucii’s lawyer George Wajackoyah criticised the police for detaining his client for longer than the law allows them. From the web [ad_2] Source link
