Story · Exclusive Video: Eric Omondi Opens Up About His Late Brother For The First Time

In an exclusive interview with international broadcasting company BBC, celebrated Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi finally opened up about his late brother who was struggling with drug addiction.

According to Eric, his brother was a very quiet and spiritual guy prior to his move to Nairobi in late 1999 where he started selling crack and eventually started using it himself.

Eric says that they had tried getting him into rehab countless times but it just didn't seem to work. He adds that on the night before his death, he was called by his friends to go see him in the streets of Nairobi where he had blacked out. When he suggested they take him to the hospital, his brother's friends told him that he just needed some crack to wake him up and one even volunteered to go and buy him some. True to his word, he went and came back with some and his brother woke up within no time. That was the last time Eric spoke to his brother.

He also says that he received huge pressure and criticism from the public who thought he had neglected his sibling and he kept constantly receiving calls from people who came across his brother on the streets.
