Police have explained what led to the Ex Siaya Clerk Shooting outside a resort in Kombewa, Kisumu County.
The incident happened on Monday morning when former Siaya County Assembly Clerk, Felix Isaac Olwero, was shot dead.

Police said they had rushed to White House Resort after receiving reports of a burglary.
At the same time, Olwero had gathered about five locals to track down the suspected burglars. They laid an ambush in a nearby maize farm.
The manager of the resort, unaware of their plan, made another distress call to police. More officers rushed to the area. When the two groups met, confusion broke out.
According to police, Olwero and his group thought the arriving officers were the burglars. They charged towards them. The officers, in turn, mistook Olwero’s group for criminals and opened fire.
Olwero was shot in the chest during the exchange and died on the spot.
Siaya Governor James Orengo said he was deeply saddened by the shooting.
He demanded a quick and thorough investigation into the death while saying,
“We condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms and demand swift, thorough investigations to ensure justice is served. No life should ever be cut short in such a senseless manner.“
Olwero was the husband of Angeline Oduor, the Siaya County Executive for Sports.
