The Lifestyle Audit bill sponsored by Nominated Senator Farhiya Ali proposes that all state and public officers make the source of their fortunes public.

This is in a bid to unearth public officials who live beyond their means by using public funds to enrich themselves.

Speaking to the press, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen expressed his displeasure with the Bill, which is in its Second Reading Stage, and claimed it attempts to defeat the presumption every citizen is innocent until proven guilty.

He accused the nominated female Senator of suffering from "excitement" after joining parliament. "Senator Farhiya is a first time Senator and she has just joined the Senate leadership thus she might be a bit excited," he said.

On the other hand, his Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei claimed that the fight against corruption has been weaponized to fight certain political battles.

However, Farhiya has reckoned that if any of her colleagues feel like they have an issue with the Bill, and they think it violates the rights of people, then they should forward their amendments.
