Burundi Star Tragically Dies Just Days After Helping His Team Qualify For AFCON

This evening, football fans have learnt of the death of Burundian midfielder Papy Faty who collapsed and died during a training session at his club Malanti Chiefs FC in eSwatini.
Faty was an integral part of Burundi's national football team that qualified for their very first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and even featured in their last qualifying game against Gabon. His death has been linked to his history of heart complications which at one point threatened to bring his professional career to an halt. Faty had been advised by doctors to stop playing due to a heart condition and was even released by his former club Bidvest Wits.
