Bungoma County Doctors Issue A 21 Day Strike Notice Ultimatum To Governor Wangamati

The Kenya Medical Practioners Pharmacists And Dentists Union KMPDU Western Branch Bungoma Doctors working in the Public and Private Health facilities have today issued a 21 days strike Notice Ulitimatum to the Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati .
Speaking yesterday at Green Vale Hotel in Bungoma Town During the 1ST Doctors Assembly under the KMPDU Western Branch Umbrella ,the Executive Secretary General Dr Charo Sande and Chairman Dr Antony Akoto has said cthat the state of Health in the county is in a depilated state .
According to Dr Akoto and Dr Sande the Bungoma County Health Department headed by the Couty Executive Committee Member Headed by Dr Antony Walela and Governor Wangamati Should come up with mechanisms to ensure that their sanity in the sector at large .
Dr Akoto and Dr Sande has said that the morale of doctors and other health workers is low because of lack of promotions ,hiring and deteoriorating work environment especially in the public hospitals.
The two KMPDU officials has noted that theis no any efforts to implement their 2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement CBA their have no single meeting held by the health department to date since the signing over a year ago.
They have cited continuous victimization and attacks on Doctors and other health personnel physically and socially hence creating a state of insecurity and panic.
Dr Charo has said that there is a graeter need for a dedicated and responsive leadership in the health department to manage the challenges and ensure theis is a swift service delivery .
“We wish to state that the as doctors we strongly support the Universal Health Care UHC and efforts towards actualizing the dream of better service delivery to members of the public, said Dr Charo And Dr Akoto”
The Executive secretary general of KMPDU Western branch has said that as a union they strongly support the formation a health Service commission through the proposed and up –coming constitutional change through a Referendum .
The two leaders have claimed both the Webuye and Bungoma county referral hospital have only two interns each since many medical students shy away from coming to Bungoma county as there is no future hopes of employment from the county government .
Their sentiments have been echoed by Dr Bernarnd Wambulwa who is the treasurer and Dr Watta Wanambisi the Bungoma county Liason Officer who have reteirated on the need for the county Executive to intervene into their agrievances in order to steamline the health sector .
Dr Wambulwa and Dr Watta have said that no doctor is involved in the stealing of drugs in public health facilities as it is supplied by the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency KEMSA and the Government of Kenya GOK Logos and nobody can sell them in a private chemist.
The Union has said their need to employ more doctors personnel in the county as it is under staffed.
