Alert Mutyambai: Rogue Traffic Police Senselessly Beat Motorist
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai
Kenya's most corrupt institution, the National Police Service (NPS) is now kling people who refuse to pay bribes.
This is not the first time that a traffic police officer is mentioned for killing a motorist. It has happened before.
However, the case of Ibrahim Kulow is very sad as he was beaten to near death by traffic police officers at Leheley on the Wajir - Nairobi highway for refusing to part with a Kshs. 50 bribe.
We urge the Inspector General of Police Mr. Hillary Mutyambai to act on rogue traffic and general police officers and to also ensure that Ibrahim Kulow gets justice.
Below is the heartbreaking story as received.
Hi Nyakundi,
Tawakal Carriers is a company owned by my brother Homabay Mohaa and my former classmate Ibrahim Kulow.
They transport goods from Nairobi to Wajir and vise versa.
Ibrahim Kulow traveled with the lorry to check on the safety of goods and also to do his monthly returns from Wajir.
At LEHELEY police station, an officer asked for Kshs. 50 bribe so that he releases the vehicle; Ibrahim refused to give bribe.
The officer slapped him and hit him with the back of his AK47.
Ibrahim locked himself in the car, while nursing serious injuries.
The police officer then alerted others and they forced Ibrahim out of the vehicle and beat him like a snake.
Ibrahim is currently in serious condition, clinging to life, at the Leheley hospital.
This is the current state of Ibrahim Kulow, he is in leheley hospital. Sad
