The Nairobi Region Secondary Schools Term One Games got underway on Saturday at various venues across the city, marking the beginning of a thrilling competition.
Defending champions in various disciplines, including Nairobi School (boys' hockey), Hillcrest (girls' hockey), and Dagoretti High School (rugby 15s), will be seeking good starts as they put their titles on the line.
Hosts Dagoretti High School, who will be banking on home advantage, will begin their defence in Group A against Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School, before taking on Sunshine Secondary School on Sunday.
Team captain Sospeter Yoga expressed confidence in his team's ability to perform well, saying, "We have a good squad and the key is to ensure we avoid any form of complacency at this stage."
Other teams, including Upper Hill School, Highway, and Lenana School, will also be competing in various groups, with matches scheduled to take place at different venues across the city.
Upper Hill School, a former National and East Africa champion, will host Group B matches and will be up against Langata Boys High School, while Highway will take on Uhuru Secondary School on Saturday.
On Sunday, Upper Hill will clash with Uhuru, while Highway Secondary School will entertain Langata.
At Lenana School, the hosts will tackle Light Academy on Saturday before facing off with Strathmore School on Sunday.
Strathmore will play St Mary's Academy, with the latter battling Light Academy on Sunday in Group D.
Other groups, including Group C and Group E, will also feature teams competing for places in the quarter-finals.
Matches will be played at various venues, including MFA, Nairobi School, and State House Girls.
