On 30th January 2020, a bomb scare in a building in Parklands, Nairobi led to the evacuation of all tenants. The incident occurred just two days after the former manager of the property retired and was replaced.
According to Nairobi Area police boss Philip Ndolo, flyers were dropped near the building on Thursday that prompted the bomb scare. CCTV reviews and corroborative evidence pointed to Ms Dinesh as the culprit.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office, assisted by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), arrested Meera Dinesh Patel, the prime suspect, on 31st January 2020.
Ms Dinesh, a tenant at the building, had expressed interest in taking up the manager's position but was not successful. The arrest was made after a 'manful forensic-led' investigation.
The DCI has warned Kenyans against engaging in similar hoaxes that might cause terror and interrupt the peace of others, as appropriate punitive and lawful actions will be taken against them.
