DP William Ruto Shows Off Soccer Skills in Luanda, Vihiga County ¶
On December 23, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto visited Luanda, Vihiga County, where he participated in the Hustlers Cup Tournament.
After arriving at the Mumboha grounds, Ruto ventured onto the football field, where he demonstrated his athletic prowess and soccer skills.
As the crowd cheered, Ruto was tasked with taking part in a penalty shootout against Luanda Township MCA Tom Atingo, who was the goalkeeper.
Before the penalty, Ruto started with a brief warm-up session, engaging in arm, leg, and torso stretches.
As the referee positioned the ball, Ruto surprised the crowd by diving to the ground and performing 10 powerful press-ups.
He then stepped back, meditated quietly, and unleashed an electric kick from his right leg, scoring a goal.
"Sport is an important activity in the community as it entertains, brings people from diverse regions and backgrounds together, and is also a viable source of livelihood for some of our youth," Ruto said.
"We need more facilities and coaching at the grassroots to convert talented youth into professionals by giving them the desired exposure, technical knack, and tricks needed to rise to the next level," he added.
During the tournament, Ruto was accompanied by ex-footballer and former Kibra MP aspirant McDonald Mariga.
The duo gifted local sportsmen with gaming gear, reaffirming the government's commitment to identifying, tapping, and nurturing talents.
