On December 16, 2019, the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a decrease in petrol and diesel prices in Kenya. The new prices took effect from December 15, 2019, to January 14, 2020.
The prices of petrol and diesel have been trending downwards in Kenya over the past few months. According to EPRA, the decrease in prices is attributed to the drop in oil import prices.
Super petrol prices fell by 0.52% in November 2019, from $463.24 per cubic meter in October to $460.83 in November. Diesel prices fell by 3.36% to $485.29, while kerosene prices fell by 3.75% to $481.11 in November.
Pump Prices in Major Towns
According to EPRA, the maximum pump prices for major towns in Kenya are as follows:
- Mombasa: Petrol - KSh 107.45, Diesel - KSh 99.74, Kerosene - KSh 100.26
- Nairobi: Petrol - KSh 109.50, Diesel - KSh 101.78, Kerosene - KSh 102.31
- Kisumu: Petrol - KSh 109.90, Diesel - KSh 102.38, Kerosene - KSh 102.91
- Eldoret: Petrol - KSh 109.90, Diesel - KSh 102.39, Kerosene - KSh 102.91
- Nakuru: Petrol - KSh 109.10, Diesel - KSh 101.58, Kerosene - KSh 102.11
