As the Hockey Premier League enters its final stretch, Parklands Hockey Club head coach Victor Bogonko remains optimistic about his team's chances of avoiding relegation.
With only four matches to go, Parklands are at the bottom of the men's top-tier league with a meager seven points, but Bogonko is confident that his team can turn their fortunes around.
The relegation battle in the men's league has narrowed down to three teams, with Nairobi Sikh Union and Strathmore University also in the mix.
Despite being underdogs, Bogonko believes that his team is not under pressure and can still achieve their goal of survival in the top-flight league.
"We are not under pressure. All we have to do is to be tactical as we haven’t been creating many goal-scoring attempts. However, in our last game against Wazalendo we did well, we could have ended up getting a point or three," Bogonko explained.
With crucial matches against Kenya Police and Chase Sailors this weekend, Bogonko is banking on his team to get six points, which he believes will secure their safety in the league.
However, the team's chances of survival have been hampered by a series of injuries to key players, which Bogonko has cited as one of the major challenges his team has faced this season.
Meanwhile, the battle for the second spot in the league is also expected to take center stage this weekend, with Police and Greensharks set to clash on Sunday.
