Motorists using Ring Road Parklands at 4th Parklands Avenue in Nairobi are advised to use alternative routes this week.
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) has issued a notice of road closure effective from Monday, November 11, 2019, till Sunday, November 17, 2019, due to ongoing works on the section.
According to the notice, the junction of Ring Road Parklands at 4th Parklands Avenue will be closed during this period, and motorists are urged to use other alternative routes.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Kura has closed the road for construction works. In 2018, the agency demolished curio shops along the road in Westlands to facilitate the expansion of a nearby road.
However, the agency was compelled to give an explanation on the incident following public outrage, stating that all affected persons were compensated and proper notice issued to them.
Despite the road closure, access to Westlands is improving with new road works, such as the ongoing development of Waiyaki Way, the Waiyaki Way-Redhill link road, and Ring Road-Parklands (Waiyaki Way to Limuru Road) connection.
