Edwin Abonyo, husband of the late Bomet governor Joyce Laboso, has been living in hell since her demise three months ago.
Speaking to The Star, Abonyo revealed that his family is still grappling with the loss, with him being the most affected.
Abonyo shared that watching his wife endure the pain of her illness, particularly the aggressive tumour that grew despite rigorous chemo and radiotherapies, was excruciating.
He recalled the painful memories of his wife choking in pain with intravenous tubes all over her body, leaving a gaping hole in his heart.
Abonyo also revealed that he had accepted the reality of his wife's condition, telling doctors not to actively resuscitate her as the pain became overbearing and her chances of survival grew negligible.
He shared a similar experience with his mother and mother-in-law, who had also suffered from cancer.
Abonyo's son Brian also shared his experience, stating that June and July were the hardest months for his mother as her condition worsened, with organ failures, swelling of the leg, and being bedridden.
