On Saturday, Sgt Ahmed Rashid, a notorious crime buster in Nairobi, was attacked by a gang along Juja Road, sustaining injuries in the process.
According to a police report, Rashid was leading a team of police officers in an operation to flush out suspected gang members who were terrorizing residents near OiLibya Petrol Station along Juja Road.
One of the suspected gang members allegedly hit Rashid on his right hand with a metal bar, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain injuries on his right hand palm, left elbow, and right knee.
The suspected gang members fled to Kosovo area, but police believe one of them was armed with a gun.
Fortunately, Rashid was rushed to Radiant Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged in fair condition.
This is not the first time Rashid has narrowly escaped death. Last year, he was shot in the left thumb during a shootout where three suspects were killed.
Just hours after the attack, police gunned down four robbery-with-violence suspects in the same area.
