On September 18, 2019, teachers in Migori County expressed concerns over the ongoing assessment of Grade Three pupils, citing a lack of internet connectivity as a major challenge.
The issue has mainly affected schools in rural areas, where access to reliable internet is scarce.
Mrs. Imnata Naitipa, headteacher at Nyarach Primary School in Rongo, acknowledged the problem and remained optimistic that it would be resolved soon.
However, Mr. Isiah Adongo, headteacher at Rongo Primary School, disputed the claim, stating that his school was not affected and that the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) was practical-oriented and enjoyable for learners.
Migori County Director of Education Elizabeth Ochaye insisted that all computers in schools had internet connection, but warned teachers against asking parents for money under the guise of internet challenges.
