Published on September 19, 2019, Nairobi News reported that Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen's burial plans were underway, with his widow and sister reaching an agreement on the private burial.

Lawyers representing Cohen's widow, Sarah Wairimu, and sister, Gabrielle Van Straten, agreed to proceed with burial plans subject to obtaining a court order. The burial ceremony will be private and for family members only, with Sarah and Gabrielle participating as widow and sister respectively.

According to the agreement, the burial rites will be in accordance with Jewish rites, led by community leaders at the Jewish Cemetery along Wangari Mathai Road on Monday at 2pm. The DPP, DCI, and Prison Authorities were requested to facilitate this compromise arrangement.

Wairimu, who is a suspect in the murder case, was allowed to be present during the autopsy conducted at the Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi. She had disputed the handover of Cohen's remains to his sister Gabrielle for burial, citing that she had the legal custody of her husband.

However, the stalemate was broken after the postmortem, when Gabrielle and Wairimu reached an agreement on the slain tycoon's burial. Wairimu is currently on remand at Langata Women's Prison and is expected to take a plea on September 26.
