On September 15, 2019, a peculiar incident occurred in the world of sports betting, where a man from Nandi County, Julius Kipkemboi, won a substantial amount of money with Odibets due to an accidental mistake.

Kipkemboi, a 37-year-old hotelier, had initially planned to bet on Arsenal winning against Watford on Sunday. However, in a surprising turn of events, he mistakenly picked Arsenal women, who were playing against Manchester United in the FA Women’s Super League, and won.

Had Kipkemboi placed his bet on the men's team, he would have lost the bet as Arsenal was held by Watford after a shambolic defensive display. This was one of the games that cost many punters their bets.

Speaking to the press, Kipkemboi credited his father, who has been betting on sports for over 40 years, for teaching him his betting strategy. His father accompanied him as he collected his dues from the betting firm.

Odibets, a leading betting website in Kenya, offered Kipkemboi a 10% boost on his win, which added up to around Ksh 40,000 to his initial winnings of Ksh 423,693.
