Reports of a divided Nairobi County Assembly (NCA) Majority Group allied to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party have been dismissed as baseless.
On Wednesday, the MCAs, led by Minority Leader Elias Otieno, reaffirmed their support for ODM candidate Bernard Otieno Okoth, alias Imran, in the upcoming Kibra by-election.
Speaking at the Minority Leader's office at the County Assembly, the MCAs expressed their unanimous support for Imran, citing his suitability to retain the seat for the ODM party.
"We are all behind Imran and there is no way we can go against our party. Kibra belongs to ODM and we are launching campaigns to ensure that the party retains the seat," said Minority Leader Elias Otieno.
Minority Chief Whip Peter Imwatok reiterated Otieno's sentiments, declaring his support for Imran and assuring him of support during the campaigns to ensure he clinches the seat.
Imran expressed satisfaction with the support he was receiving from the party and the MCAs, stating that they had agreed on strategies to use and how they would work together during the campaign period.
"We are also looking at ways through which we are going to work together during this campaign period to bring back the seat to ODM. I'm satisfied with the support I'm receiving from the party," he said.
